February 1915

Joad is elected Member of the Aristotelian Society (University of London Debating Society). He contributes over 17 Papers between 1915 and 1947 – most notably “Appeal to Philosophers”, Proceedings of the Aristotelian Society (PAS XL), in which Joad called the profession  back to the rejected classical tradition (eg Socrates, Plato & Aristotle), which embodied ultimate, intrinsic Values.

This “Appeal” was ignored by other philosophers in his time – and beyond.
